Cornell Sample Host Cavity: Recent Results

چکیده
The Cornell sample host cavity is a 3.9 GHz testing system for RF analysis of novel superconducting surfaces. The cavity applies fields up to 100 mT on a removable and replaceable 5-inch sample plate in order to measure the surface resistance of the material under investigation. The cavity also includes a temperature-mapping system for localization of quench events and surface defects. In this paper, we present recent experimental results from the host cavity of niobium deposited onto molybdenum and copper substrates using chemical vapor deposition, in collaboration with industry partner Ultramet. The results indicate lowBCS resistance and good adhesion but also areas of high residual resistance due to chemical and morphological defects.

Review of New Shapes for Higher Gradients
High gradient superconducting RF (SRF) cavities are needed for energy frontier superconducting accelerators. Progress has been made over the past decades and the accelerating gradient Eacc has been increased from a few MV/m to 42 MV/m in SRF niobium cavities. The corresponding peak RF magnetic field Hpk on the niobium cavity surface is approaching the intrinsic RF critical magnetic field Hcrit ...
متن کاملOperating Experience with Superconducting Rf at Cesr and Overview of Other Srf Related Activities at Cornell University
In the two years past since 8 RFSC Workshop the major efforts of the SRF group at Cornell University were concentrated on the completion and commissioning of the superconducting RF system for the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) e+e− collider [1, 2]. Four singlecell niobium higher-order mode (HOM) damped cavities replaced four 5-cell normal conducting RF cavities. The RF system upgrade bega...
متن کاملInhibition of infectious diseases by components from Aloe vera.
The ability to eliminate Escherichia coli K-12 from the peritoneal cavity in the early stage of infection (48 h) was improved by the pre-administration of an aloe sample to BALB/c mice. Our results suggest that the aloe sample could inhibit infectious diseases by stimulating the host defense mechanism, especially the phagocytic and killing activities of macrophages.
متن کاملDesign of a Multi-Cell Superconducting Cavity for the Cornell ERL Main Linac
The Cornell ERL is a proposed x-ray source. Part of the design of this ERL is the design of the main linear accelerator (linac) by the Superconducting Radio Frequency group at Cornell. One of the main components of this linac is a network of 7-cell superconducting cavities. Each cavity is a resonator that accelerates beams with the electric field of the so-called fundamental electromagnetic mod...
متن کاملNew Possibilities for Superconducting Cavity Testing at Cornell University
Cornell is testing superconducting cavities for many different purposes: system development for CESR, supporting technology transfer of CESR SRF systems to storage ring light sources around the world, collaboration with the world-wide TESLA project, collaboration with Muon Collider/Neutrino Factory projects, developing an Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) based synchrotron light source in collaborati...
